The Murray Calloway County Senior Citizens Center hosted a regular meeting of the Murray Lions last week, showing off both their facilities and food service skills. Senior Center Director Mark McLemore (pictured with apron) welcomed the Lions and spoke on the center’s mission in the community providing a focus that allows a person’s senior years to be some of the greatest of their life, filled with great activities, friendships, as well as fun and new experiences. He further explained the center facilities are being expanded to offer new activities as well as a state-of-the-art conference facility. The center hosted the meeting meal and explained that the meal served was typical of the daily offering at the center and met or exceeded all the state requirements for nutrition. The center is most proud of their now expanding meals on wheels program in the County and explained our local program was setting a benchmark for other programs in Western Kentucky.
During the regular meeting the Lions initiated new member Sherece Cole shown above with Lions Membership Chain, Marty Jacobs (right) and sponsor Linda Avery (pictured on the left). Murray Lions president Paul McCreary said “Sherece will be a great addition to the Murray Lions tradition of serving the needs of our community as she has already demonstrated with her tireless work and dedication as Director of Gentry House.”
