Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy. For over 100 years our 47,000 clubs and more than 1.5 million members make us the world’s largest service club organization.
We’re also one of the most effective at getting the job done. In Murray-Calloway County we recently:
• Were named as Murray-Calloway County Nonprofit of the Year 2019
• Completed the final phase of the Murray Lions Community Skate Park; a gift worth over $72,000
• Screened the vision of over 1,100 Pre-K and Head Start children in our area last year
• Provided in-need local residents with over $3,000 in eyeglass prescriptions
• Furnished volunteer labor and food for the Calloway County Backpack Program
• Recycled over 35,000 pair of used eyeglasses
• Provided (15) $1,000 scholarships for Murray-Calloway County high school students attending Murray State
• Host an annual First Responders awards dinner
• Donated over $2,500 last year to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation to help fund complex eye surgeries and eye research
• Actively support the Lions Leader Dog for The Blind project supporting people who are blind or visually impaired
