Warren Beeler, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Agriculture addressed a packed house at the Murray Lions October 25th club meeting. The Murray Lions also welcomed members of the area’s agricultural community for this important address to hear Mr. Beeler speak about the economic importance of agriculture to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and to Calloway County.
He addressed the state’s productive use of the tobacco settlement money in helping transition the state from a tobacco driven agriculture economy to a leading producer of dairy products, poultry and beef. He also spoke about the state’s leading role in the production of hemp and the many potential uses for the end-product, from paper and fiber products to the possibility of making automobile dash boards from hemp fiber.
